The Person Behind the Shield

LONA Defense Group was built by someone who spent over a 2 decades on the front lines of community safety. This is how it started, and why it exists.

Meet Misty Moore

Misty Moore is the founder of LONA Defense Group—but more than that, she is a woman who turned her story into a mission.

Growing up without the consistent presence of a father, Misty learned early what it felt like to navigate the world without protection. As a young teenager, she found herself in situations she now recognizes as dangerous—relationships where she was told she was “mature for her age” and “different,” words she would later understand as manipulation, not maturity.

Those experiences didn’t break her—but they opened her eyes.

They became the foundation for a deep conviction: girls need to be protected, prepared, and taught what to look for before they ever find themselves in harm’s way.

Misty went on to build a career in public safety, serving over two decades in emergency management and homeland security. She has worked in crisis response, seen the realities of exploitation, and stepped into the world of private investigations—including missing persons cases. Through it all, one truth remained clear: prevention is everything.

Our Team

Christie

Christie is an investigator and advocate driven by a deep commitment to truth, integrity, and serving others well. She approaches her work with discernment and care, believing that every detail matters and every person deserves to be seen, heard, and protected.

With eight years of experience in survivor advocacy, Christie has walked closely with individuals impacted by trauma and exploitation. This work has shaped her deep understanding of trauma and her commitment to approaching others with patience, respect, and compassion.

Alongside her investigative work, Christie is passionate about helping others grow in confidence and awareness. She has worked alongside Misty to help facilitate Lona self-defense classes, empowering individuals with practical skills and a deeper sense of confidence and awareness.

Her heart for truth is also reflected in her passion for studying and teaching the Bible, where she creates space for honest conversation, thoughtful questioning, and spiritual growth in knowing Jesus. That same foundation shapes how she approaches her work—seeking clarity, pursuing what is right, and advocating for others with both conviction and compassion.

Christie brings a steady, people-centered perspective to everything she does, grounded in the belief that truth matters and lives are impacted when it is pursued with both courage and care.

Sara

Sara is an advocate at heart, driven by a deep desire to help others find their voice and walk in confidence. With a natural compassion for people, she brings both strength and empathy into every space she’s part of.

Her background as a nanny reflects her passion for investing in others—especially children, creating safe and supportive environments where people can grow and feel seen. As someone with lived experience overcoming trauma, Sara carries a unique perspective that allows her to connect with others in a genuine and impactful way.

Her faith continues to shape her into a woman of purpose and authority, guiding how she shows up in both life and work. Sara is committed to helping others advocate for themselves, recognize their worth, and step into their own strength.

She approaches her work with both compassion and conviction, believing that every person deserves to be heard and empowered.

How LONA started

LONA Defense Group was born from that truth. What started as a calling has become a movement—equipping girls and women with the awareness, confidence, and practical skills to protect themselves both online and in real life. Misty’s approach is not fear-based—it’s strength-based. She teaches not just how to respond to danger, but how to recognize it early, trust instincts, and walk with confidence.

Her mission is deeply personal. Because she knows what it’s like to be unprotected.

And she’s committed to making sure the next generation never has to be.

Equip. Empower. Protect.

LONA exists to prepare people, not to scare them. We believe that confidence comes from knowing what to do when it matters most. Every class we teach, every case we take, and every client we serve is built on that belief.

What We Stand For

Value 1: Preparation Over Fear

We don't use scare tactics. We teach practical skills and real-world awareness so you can move through your day with confidence, not anxiety.

Value 2: Experience You Can Trust

Our training and services are backed by over a decade of law enforcement, investigative, and community safety work. Every program is built on what actually works.

Value 3: Community First

LONA grew from community classes, local partnerships, and word of mouth. We show up for the people we serve, and that will never change.

Value 4: Accessible to Everyone

You don't need prior experience, athletic ability, or any special equipment. You just need to show up. We'll meet you where you are.
